My boooyyyy! Ruby was the first game I played. Lil 11-year-old me was sheltered, scared, and didn't know that it's actually normal for everyone to play as a different gender... so I played as May, for fear of being judged. But every time the stupid cool rival music would play, Brendan would come sauntering up and I'd stare at him, some complicated mix of jealousy, wistfulness, confusion, and doubt making me illogically mad at him... and myself, for not playing as him. I didn't get why. 

Cut to 7 years (filled with obsessive Pokemon playing) later, and I officially came out as trans. :'D GO FIGURE, AHAHAH. 
...I still don't like May, to this day.
